DEAR ZOO TURNS 35

Classic baby brand Dear Zoo is lining up a year of celebrations as part of the 35th anniversary campaign for Rod Campbell's much-loved classic lift-the-flap book.

Dear Zoo was first published in 1982, has sold over 8 million copies worldwide and is currently published in more than 20 languages.

An exciting programme of anniversary activity, launched by Macmillan Children's Books, will run throughout 2017 with new publishing, an exclusive Dear Zoo Trail at ZSL London Zoo, licensed product ranges and a brand new stage show.

"I can hardly believe that Dear Zoo is celebrating its 35th anniversary," said author Rod Campbell. "I really am enormously touched and delighted that successive generations of young children continue to love Dear Zoo - their obvious pleasure when interacting with it is so gratifying to see, and for me is the very greatest of compliments!”

The highlight of the anniversary publishing activity will be a splendid hardback gift edition, with a beautiful new slipcase designed by Rod.

A Dear Zoo Trail will be held at ZSL London Zoo throughout the Easter holidays. Families will be able to follow the story of the Dear Zoo book, with fun trail stops, animal facts and photo opportunities along the way.

Retailers across the country will be invited to get on board with the birthday celebrations with a host of Dear Zoo activity. A storytelling event will also tour all the major literary festivals throughout the year.

The anniversary celebrations will culminate in autumn 2017 with the opening of a brand new stage performance of Dear Zoo.
